This is the design I submitted for the Textielmuseum I-CONTEST. The task was to design a pattern inspired by printing techniques. I started out with 7x7cm foam squares, I then cut shapes out of the squares to stamp with, the residual shapes (negative shapes) turned out to be just as interesting as the ‘positive’ shapes so I ended up making a stamped pattern combining the two. After that I translated it into a digital surface pattern which you see here.
UPPERCASE issue 21 is out! full of beautiful patterns, tips and advice from industry experts (representing companies, such as Surtex, Cloud9 Fabrics, teNeues), an interview with Lotta Jansdotter and of course the Surface Pattern Design Guide! so happy to be one of the 100 profiled artists.
Collaboration with Such Great Heights from Australia. SGH has a beautiful collection, with products that as they say ‘are made to last, created from the finest raw materials that will stand the test of time’. They licensed my surface pattern designs WAVES and RIBBON for their Wonder Tents and Bed Rolls (image by SGH).
